About Us

Community Baptist Church was formed in the summer of 1946 by the Shuford mill's owner and a salvation army preacher. Concerned for the hearts of his workers, the owner of Shuford Mills approached Otis Joyner, a Salvation Army preacher, about starting a church. The mill owner would put up the money to build the building, which was later completed in the summer of 1947. Today, Greg Berkey is the pastor here at Community.
